Promo code activation failed

Troubleshooting referral and promo code errors: map app messages to fixes.

If a promo or referral code fails on Profile > Free Tokens, match the on-screen message to the steps below. Referral rewards are 100 tokens each (referrer and referred), separate from the 30 welcome tokens for new accounts.

Promo codes can only be activated within the first 30 days

Referral codes work only on new accounts; buy tokens or use How to buy tokens instead

Try another phone or tablet; contact support if this is a mistake

Too many attempts. Wait a minute

Rate limit

Wait 60 seconds before trying again

Sign in to a full account via email, Google or Apple first

Guest / anonymous login

Upgrade your account from Settings, then activate the code

This code is reserved

Reserved word in custom code

Pick another code without reserved words (see Referral program)


If activation still fails

  1. Update the app to the latest version on web, iOS or Android.

  2. Sign out and sign in again with the same account.

  3. Pull to refresh your token balance on Profile.

  4. Contact support@vocalingo.app with the exact error text and promo code.
