Speech to Text and Text Analysis include a built-in audio recorder. You can record directly in the app without needing to prepare a file in advance.

How to record

  1. Open Speech to Text (or Text Analysis) from the Tools tab.

  2. Tap Record audio in the file selection area.

  3. The first time you record, the app will ask for microphone permission. Tap Allow.

  4. When you are ready, press the Record button. You will see Recording… and a timer.

  5. Press Stop when you are done.

  6. Your recording is ready. Tap Transcribe (or Analyze) to process it.

ℹ️ If you are not satisfied with the recording, tap Re-record to start over. The previous recording is discarded.

Tips for a good recording

  • Hold the phone 15-20 cm from your mouth while speaking

  • Speak in a quiet environment without background noise or music

  • Do not cover the microphone with your fingers

  • For long recordings (over 10 minutes), use a dedicated voice recorder app and then import the file

Microphone permissions

The recorder requires microphone access. If you denied permission earlier, you need to enable it manually:

  • iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone → find VocaLingo and enable.

  • Android: Settings → Apps → VocaLingo → Permissions → Microphone → Allow.
