Instead of uploading a file, you can paste a link to a video or audio and VocaLingo will download it automatically on the server. Supported in Speech to Text, Text Analysis, Translate Audio, Translate Video and Video to Text.

How to import from a link

  1. Open the tool (for example, Speech to Text or Video to Text).

  2. In the file selection area, tap Paste link.

  3. Enter or paste the URL and tap Download.

  4. The app shows progress: Downloading…, then Saving…, then Processing… (in Video to Text).

  5. Once ready, the file appears in the tool as if you had uploaded it manually.

Supported sources

  • YouTube: any public video (youtube.com, youtu.be)

  • Instagram: public Reels and videos

  • TikTok: public videos

  • Direct file URLs: links ending in .mp3, .mp4, .wav, .ogg and other supported formats

ℹ️ Private, age-restricted or members-only content cannot be downloaded. The content must be publicly accessible without signing in.

Size limits by tool

Link imports use server-side download, so limits differ from manual uploads:

  • Video to Text and Translate Video: up to 100 MB per link

  • Speech to Text, Translate Audio and Text Analysis: up to 10 MB per link (audio extracted from video when needed)

Tips

  • Copy the link from the share menu of the social app rather than the address bar

  • For YouTube, use the full URL or Share → Copy link

  • For very long videos, download proceeds only if the resulting file fits within the size limit
