AI Calls lets you call regular phone numbers from VocaLingo with live language support on web, iOS and Android. You can translate the conversation in real time or use AI as a call copilot that suggests what to say next.

ℹ️ Incoming calls require a verified or virtual number in My Numbers. See My Numbers (verify and virtual).

Call modes

  • Translation: translates the conversation live between your language and the other person's language

  • AI Assistant: listens and suggests short replies based on your instructions. See AI Assistant mode during calls.

ℹ️ You can choose how audio is played on each side: original voice or translated speech with TTS. Using TTS may add a short delay.

Outgoing vs incoming calls

Outgoing: you dial a number from the Dial tab. Choose which of your numbers to call from in Settings or before the call starts.

Incoming: someone calls your verified personal number or virtual number. On iOS and Android you see an incoming call screen and can accept or decline. The same Translation or AI Assistant modes apply during the call.

How to start an outgoing call

  1. Open AI Calls from the Tools tab.

  2. Enter a phone number or pick a saved contact.

  3. Select the call mode, languages, and audio playback options.

  4. If needed, choose which number to call from.

  5. Review the estimated token cost per minute and start the call.

During the call

  • Live translation or AI suggestions appear on the active call screen

  • You can mute the microphone, switch speaker output, and monitor your remaining balance

  • For AI Assistant mode, you can add extra context to shape the suggestions

History, recordings, and details

Every call is saved in the History tab. Open a call record to see duration, cost, mode, AI events, and the saved recording if available.

Numbers and contacts

In Contacts save frequently used people. In Settings → My Numbers verify a personal number or get a virtual number, then choose the default for outgoing calls. Details: My Numbers (verify and virtual).

Pricing

AI Calls are billed per minute. The estimate depends on destination, speech recognition, AI model, and TTS playback. The app shows tokens per minute and how many minutes your balance covers before you start.
